Two stamps and a minisheet were issued on November 16th 2009 to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Trump International Hotel ® in Waikiki. On November 16th 2009, the Trump International Hotel Waikiki ® opened its doors for the first time. This is the first new luxury hotel in Waikiki in many years. The 38 story, 462 room hotel took three years to build. The entire buildings units sold out in one day in November 2006 ranging in price from $460,000 for a studio to $9 million for a three-bedroom penthouse. This hotel is the fourth in the Trump Hotel chain after New York City, Chicago and Las Vegas. It is located just across the street from Fort De Russy park and beach. The majority of rooms have an ocean view. Each south and west facing rooms also have a spectacular sunset view. The south and east facing rooms also have a view of Diamond Head. The mauka (inland) view is of the Koolau Mountains. A formal opening ceremony with celebrity guests is planned for January 2010.
