January 26th 2009. Lunar New Year - the Year of the Ox. One stamp was issued on January 26th 2009 to celebrate the first day of the Lunar New Year, The Year of the Ox. The Ox is the 2nd position in the Chinese Zodiac. Asian folklore says that people born in the Year of the Ox have traits that include strength, health, dependability, and determination. They work hard and in their off-time prefer to spend time at home, maybe working in their yard, if outdoors. They prefer the routine kind of work. They are not very sociable and prefer long-term relationships, often searching hard for the right person. The $9 stamp (above) prepays the Same Day rate. It shows a scene from a Hawaiian postcard around 1900. A water buffalo is plowing a rice paddy in Hawai'i. This is the largest perforated stamp ever issued by Hawai'i Post measuring 2" by 2.75". In the Vietnamese zodiac, the water buffalo replaces the Ox. The special postmark for this issue (above) shows the head of an ox. WE ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS ON ALL ORDERS
