February 3rd 2011. Lunar New Year - the Year of the Rabbit. Two stamps and a minisheet were issued on February 3rd 2011 to celebrate the first day of the Lunar New Year, The Year of the Rabbit.
The Year of the Rabbit began on February 3rd 2011 and ends on January 22 2012. People born in the Year of the Rabbit are talented, articulate, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky - hence the lucky Rabbit's foot. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind and seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, live up to contracts. They seldom gamble as they are wise and conservative. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Dog, Sheep, and Pig. Gung Hay Fat Choy! The $6 stamp (above left) prepays the Overnight rate. It shows a rabbit with big ears on a television screen with the caption "Rabbit's Ears", which has a double meaning. Not just the actual ears of the rabbit, but also the name given to antenna on old TV sets before the advent of cable and satellite TV. The $9 stamp (above right) prepays the Same Day rate. It shows a rabbit peering out of a top hat with the caption "Rabbit in the Hat Magic Trick". This pertains to a classic magic trick where the magician displays the inside of a top hat to the audience, then proceeds to pull a rabbit out of the supposedly empty hat. The $9 minisheet (above) shows a group of three rabbits who appear quite happy in each other's company, with the caption "Year of the Rabbit".
The special postmark for this issue (above) depicts a rabbit. WE ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS ON ALL ORDERS
