March 5th 2013. Flowers. Three stamps and a minisheet were issued on March 5th 2013 depicting flowers.A booklet was also issued. The $2.50 stamp (above left) prepays additional charges such as extra weight. It shows a Tiger lily.Lilium catesbaei. This flower occurs widely in the Southeastern U.S.A. The plant, which is up to three feet tall, usually produces just one spectacular flower which varies from yellow to red in color. It thrives in a wet climate with damp soil, but it is hard to cultivate. The $6 stamp (above middle) prepays the Overnight rate. It shows a Kowhai. Sophora tetraptera. These yellow flowers bloom on an evergreen tree, native to New Zealand, which can grow up to twenty-five feet tall. The flowers, which bloom in the month of May, are hermaphroditic and are pollenated by insects. The $9 stamp (above right) prepays the Same Day rate. It shows a Bluebell creeper. Sollya heterophylla. This plant is a vine, which grows up to six feet tall in fertile, well drained soil, and thrives under full or partial sun. The blue flowers are in bloom from June through September. It also has blue edible berries. The $9 minisheet (above) prepays the Same Day rate. It depicts a large colorful bougainvillea hanging over the edge of the bank of an Ala Wai canal tributary in Waikiki. The booklet cover for this issue (above) depicts a bougainvillea vine The booklet contains 2 x $2.50, 2 x $6 and 2 x $9 stamps in panes of two.
