The special cachet above shows vertically "HAWAI'I POST/YEAR OF THE SNAKE" and in Chinese "HAPPY NEW YEAR". The special postmark for the above cover was issued for January 24 2001 only. The outer circle reads "CHINATOWN, HONOLULU, O'AHU, HAWAI'I POST". The center lines across read "JANUARY 24 2001" with an outline of a snake above it.

A First Day Cover was issued on March 11 2001 with a special cachet and postmark. Covers were made in white and gray. The special cachet above has a short history of the Moana Hotel. The special postmark for the above cover was issued for March 11 2001 only. The outer circle reads "MOANA HOTEL, WAIKIKI, O'AHU, MARCH 11 2001, HAWAI'I POST". The inner circle reads "CENTENARY OF OPENING". The center of the circle shows the porte-cochere of the hotel and a horse and carriage.

April 22 2001

A First Day Cover was issued on April 22 2001 with a special cachet and postmark. Covers were made in white and gray. The special cachet above has a picture of a Silversword plant and the text explains the purpose of Earth Day. The special postmark for the above cover was issued for April 22 2001 only. The outer circle reads "EARTH DAY - KEEP HAWAI'I BEAUTIFUL - HAWAI'I POST". The inner circle reads "WAIKIKI, O'AHU, APRIL 22 2001". The center of the circle shows a hand placing trash in a trash basket.

June 8 2001

A First Day Cover was issued on June 8 2001 with a special cachet and postmark. Covers were made in white and gray. The special cachet above has a drawing of the entrance to Aloha Tower and the text explains its history. The special postmark for the above cover was issued for June 8 2001 only. The outer circle reads "ALOHA TOWER - HONOLULU HARBOR - HAWAI'I POST". The center of the circle reads "75th anniversary, JUNE 8 2001".

June 26 2001

A First Day Cover was issued on June 26 2001 with a special cachet and postmark. Covers were made in white and gray. The special cachet above has a photo of S. S. Malolo's arrival at Honolulu Harbor. The text has the history of William Matson and the Matson Line and the S. S. Malolo. The special postmark for the above cover was issued for June 26 2001 only. The postmark is in the shape of a lifesaver and the red portions of the lifesaver are hand painted. The outer circle reads "S. S. MALOLO - HAWAI'I POST". The inner circle reads "75th Anniv. of Launching." The center reads "26 June 2001".

August 13 2001

A First Day Cover was issued on August 13 2001 with a special cachet and postmark. Covers were made in white and gray. The postmark is a circle. The outer circle reads "BARKING SANDS, KAUA'I, HAWAI'I * HAWAI'I POST *". The upper inner circle has an outline of the Helios against the sun. The lower center reads "August 13 2001".

September 4 2001

A First Day Cover was issued on September 4 2001 with a special cachet and postmark. The postmark is a circle in purple ink. The upper inner circle reads "HAWAI'I POST, WAIKIKI, O'AHU". The lower inner circle reads "*HAWAIIAN ORCHIDS*". The upper part of the circle has a drawing of rain clouds passing by a mountain. This symbolizes the high rain forest on Hawai'i where all three of the native Hawaiian orchids grow. The lower center reads "SEPTEMBER 4 2001".

October 1 2001


A First Day Cover was issued on October 1st 2001 with a special cachet and 2 postmarks. The cachet shows a picture of "The Polynesia" newspaper where the stamps were printed. The Honolulu postmark is a circle in brown ink. The Lahaina postmark is a circle in blue ink. The upper inner circle reads "FIRST HAWAI'I STAMPS SESQUICENTENNIAL". The lower upper inner circle reads "HAWAI'I POST". The upper part of the circle has a drawing of an addressed envelope with a stamp on it. The lower center reads "OCTOBER 1 2001". The lower inner circle reads "HONOLULU, O'AHU" or "LAHAINA, MAUI".

A First Day Cover was issued on October 11th 2001 with a special cachet and postmark. The cachet shows a yacht under sail in the ocean. The postmark's upper inner circle reads "HAWAI'I YACHT CLUB CENTENARY". The lower upper inner circle reads "HAWAI'I POST". The upper part of the circle has a drawing of sailboat, with "HYC" on the main sail. The lower center reads "OCTOBER 11 2001". The lower inner circle reads "ALA WAI HARBOR, O'AHU".
