A First Day Cover was issued on January 20 2009 with a special cachet and a postmark. Covers were made in white (above) and gray (below). The special cachet shows a map of Barack Obama's route to the White House, plus a small insert of the White House. The text describes his travels.

The special postmark for the above covers was issued for January 20 2009 only. The upper inner oval reads "PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA INAUGURATION". The lower inner oval reads "* HAWAI'I POST, HONOLULU, HAWAI'I * ". Across the lower center is the date "JANUARY 20 2009".A depiction of the White House is in the center. Black ink was used.

A First Day Cover was issued on January 26 2009 with a special cachet and a postmark. Covers were made in white and gray (above). The special cachet shows an ox and the Chinese characters for the "Year of the Ox". The text reads "Lunar New Year. Year of the Ox..

A First Day Cover was issued on March 12 2009 with a special cachet and a postmark. Covers were made in white (above) and gray (below). The special cachet shows a picture of "Boat Day" from an old Hawaiian postcard. The text has a short history of cruise ships in Hawai'i.

A First Day Cover was issued on April 8 2009 with a special cachet and a postmark. Covers were made in white and gray (above and below). The special cachet shows a picture of the reverse of a 1883 one eighth of a Dollar Hawaiian coin, also depicted on the $9 stamp. The text has a short history of Hawaiian coins.

The special postmark for the above covers was issued for April 8 2009 only. The upper inner circle reads "APRIL 8, HAWAI'I POST - COINS OF HAWAI'I ". In the lower inner circle is the year "2009".The bust of King Kalakaua is depicted in the center. Black ink was used.

A First Day Cover was issued on June 4 2009 with a special cachet and a postmark. Covers were made in white (above & below) and gray. The special cachet has text with a short explanation of the paintings

The special postmark for the above covers was issued for June 4 2009 only. The upper inner circle reads "PAINTINGS - HAWAI'I POST". The lower inner circle reads "HONOLULU, O'AHU, HAWAI'I" with the date "JUNE 4 2009" above that. An artists color palette is depicted in the center. Black ink was used. The different colors of paint were added by hand.

A First Day Cover was issued on July 4 2009 with a special cachet and a postmark. Covers were made in white (below) and gray (above). The special cachet has a colorized photo of a young Hawaiian girl holding up the March 13 1959 issue of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin which proudly says "STATEHOOD!" in big red letters. The text has a short history of Hawai'i Statehood. The photo is courtesy of the Hawai'i State Archives.

The special postmark for the above covers was issued for July 4 2009 only. The upper inner circle reads "HAWAI'I STATEHOOD 50TH". The lower inner circle reads "JULY 4 2009 - HAWAI'I POST". A star with 50 inside is depicted in the center. Each of the 50 states of the U.S.A. is represented by a star on the national flag - the "Stars and Stripes". Hawai'i was the last and 50th state to join the union. Black ink was used.

A First Day Cover was issued on August 1 2009 with a special cachet and a postmark. Covers were made in white (below) and gray (above). The special cachet has a painting "Roses in a Vase"by Renoir.. The text is all about Roses.

The special postmark for the above covers was issued for August 1 2009 only. The upper inner circle reads "ROSES - HAWAI'I POST". The lower inner circle reads "WAIKIKI, O'AHU, HAWAI'I". Just above is the dae "AUG 1 2009". A rose in full bloom is depicted in the center. Black ink was used.

A First Day Cover was issued on August 26 2009 with a special cachet and a postmark. Covers were made in white (above) and gray (below). The special cachet shows a statue of Richard Schirrmann in Altena, Germany and the text has a short history of Youth Hostels.
